Thomas Cheever, P.E.

While attending Florida Technological University (later renamed University of Central Florida) in Orlando, Mr. Cheever enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve with recruit training at Parris Island summer of 1977. He returned to school participating as a drilling reservist until graduation in March 1980. Mr. Cheever was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) degree.

Mr. Cheever was commissioned in the United States Naval Reserve with orders to Pensacola to begin training to become a Naval Aviator. He was “winged” in 1981 and designated a naval aviator with transition orders to begin training to fly the A-7 Corsair. Offered an opportunity to follow the A-7 into the reserve fleet, he was early released from active service in 1984. He continued to perform as an active reservist flying A-7s until 1992 when he resigned his commission.
